Renaissance Aruba Beach Resort - Guest Reviews Hotel description
My husband and I just returned from our first trip to Aruba. We are going back again. We will stay at the Renaissance again. The hotel is not on the beach. It is in the middle of town, walking distance to Everything. If you are honeymooning and without kids, stay here. You take a boat to a private island for your "beach" fix. The boat ride is half the fun. It is more like a lagoon and so awesome. When you stay at the Renaissance, you chose between the Ocean Suites or the Marina. The Marina is for folks without kids. The Ocean Suites is timeshare and has a ton of kids. We would suggest taking the helicopter ride the moment you arrive. This ride allows you to see everything and allows you to make decisions about your vacation. Definitely take the jeep ride. Pack a cooler and go to all of the beaches that you see...well worth it and will provide you with a great day. The hotel has a great bar, great food and an awesome pool. The view from the pool is the best. The steak house in the hotel was Fabulous. We did the all inclusive and we were glad that we did. My husband loves to eat and filling up every morning and then at lunch was worth it. One of our favorite things was eating on the beach at sunset. We did this at the Ocean Suites... Surf and turf. If you like staying down at the beach with so many other people... then the high rise district if for you. Warning.... TONS of people, tons of noise and tons of kids. If you like staying where you can walk and do lots of different things and get to a private beach or even take a cab to one...This hotel is for you.
This time last year my husband and I vacationed at the Renaissance Resort on Aruba, and we are about to do the same in another week. It will be our third time at this particular hotel because we enjoy it. We have learned, however, that the Beach Tower is more to our preference after trying the Marina Tower the first time we were there. We had a little difficulty upon arrival, with the DePalma folks who provide the transportation from the airport, and will choose a taxi from the airport, this year. The driver wouldn't drop us off at the Beach Tower, but insisted that we had to check in at the Marina Tower first. It took us over an hour to get onto the correct side of the resort for our pre-arranged lodging. Although the arrival was a frustrating experience, we didn't let it daunt our vacation. We enjoy the Renaissance because it doesn't have a million people standing shoulder to shoulder in the pools as do some of the other hotels in Palm Beach. The employees are friendly and courteous, which really means a lot when you're that far away from home.
My hubby and I stayed at the beach suites building for our honeymoon in August 2002 (the building without the casino). The service was pretty good and the rooms were clean. The pool was gorgeous with a swim up bar & happy hour specials! The best part about this hotel is the private island for hotel guests only! It is gorgeous and has 2 beaches to choose from! There is snorkeling equipment for rent (or bring your own) and you can snorkel in the calm water or just past a breakwater wall. The water is clear & clean (no boats so no gasoline like at the public beaches)! Back on the mainland, there is also a small inlet of water with a beach right next to the pool at the beach suites building. Also clean and pretty! DEFINATELY tour the island - there are some gorgeous rocky shores and you wouldn't believe the landscapes! At the public beaches, the locals didn't try to sell us anything like they do at many other Caribbean islands. The hotel was very convenient because there is a small shopping center next door with several restaurants and shops. Overall we loved Aruba and this hotel and would love to go back - once we save our money to pay for the food! The average meal was about $100 for 2 people!! But so yummy! |
