Wyndham Nassau Resort and Crystal Palace Casino
Just returned from a 5 night stay here 07/28-08/02. This hotel stay was a free gift and I am used to staying in much nicer accomodations but the room we ended up with was nice. They also allowed us to check in at 1:00 since the room was free. We were on the 7th floor in Tower C with an oceanfront room. The room size is good. We had a king bed with seperate shower/dressing area. The room had no discernable smell other than what is to be expected in the Carribean and looked relatively new. It was not old or run down. We had a nice balcony. The restaurant prices are equal or a bit higher to the cost of restaurants where I live (NYC area of US) so that was no shock. I do think the breakfast buffet price is too high but have been told all the restaurants charge similar prices. We ate at Cafe Johnny Canoes for 4 or 5 meals and found the value/food to be well worth the money, especially the liquor. That would be my main complaint. They are charging $7.00 for a drink and you get an 8oz. plastic cup filled with ice. We bought a bottle of rum and a 12-pack of coke and made our own drinks for the beach.I love spending time on the beach so I was disappointed in Wyndham on that aspect. You can swim at the hotels next door but I prefer more beach area. Plenty of chairs were available and the beach itself was clean. The pool looked nice but we never used it.I think the place probably gets overrun with teenagers/college kids on the weekends. Mon-Thu it was dead at the Wyndham. By Friday we started to see a real change so I'm glad we left Saturday morning. We didn't run into any noise or problems but noticed the rowdy factor go up.Please avoid The Royal Holiday timeshare/vacation club desk. Out of curiosity I searched the web when I got home and the information I found was not positive. I am going to write a letter to Wyndham corporation regarding this company.
We chose the Wyndham because we did not want to spend a lot of money on a hotel. We got exactly what we paid for. The rooms were very comfortable and the balcony view was spectacular, but next time I would stay on Paradise Island. The beach and swimming area were very small, but there were planty of chairs. The hotel had a MAJOR towel shortage. It was like they rotated towels between the rooms and sometimes you got lucky and had a full set. Same goes for the pool towels - never enough - be safe and pack a beach towel. The hotel restaurants could definitely use some work. The food was average - I recommend going out and finding a place on your own. The pool bar was great, but the pool itself is in bad need of resurfacing. Next time I would spend more money and stay somewhere better.
Having just returned from a 4-night stay in Nassau I can honestly say I was very pleased with the Crystal Palace resort. We stayed in F tower on the top floor and we found our room to be very clean and new looking. We had an ocean view room with a breath taking view that was unbelievable! The restaurants in the resort were a bit pricey, but each meal that we had was better than the last. And the service was always wonderful. In general, we found the staff to be pleasant and helpful- accept for maybe the casino area where it seems that employees are instructed to remain stone-faced. The only issues that I had with this resort was that the pool always seemed dirty. There was often scum in the water and there is a swim-up bar so you would often find a cigarette butt or french fry floating in the water. For such a scenic and beautiful pool it should be maintained better. Also, everyday there is a booming stereo and DJ set up at the pool. While it is nice for a while- if you're looking for a quiet, peaceful place to read a book, this is not it! One last note: we were there over the 4th of July and the fireworks display was amazing! All in all, for the price, our trip was terrific! I would never pay TONS more to stay at Atlantis. |
