What to expect: With one large room tower, a pool, and two intimate dinner restaurants, this hotel offers a convenient and simple alternative to the huge Atlantis Resort next door. Families, business travelers, and celebrating couples enjoy the Sheraton's location directly on Paradise Island's popular north shore beach.

Amenity highlights: The resort is styled as a Roman seaside plaza, with leaping-dolphin statues, columns, and decorative tiles. The pool features a waterfall wall and expansive multi-level sundeck furnished with lounge chairs with pull-up sunshades. Steps lead from the sundeck down to a beach of powdery, nearly-white sand stretching 3 miles along the turquoise-and-blue Atlantic Ocean.

Insider tip: Adjacent to the Sheraton, the huge Atlantis Resort includes a health-and-beauty spa, 24-hour casino, nightclub, comedy club, Discovery Camp for children ages 4-12, teen club, shopping arcade, and 13 public restaurants--all accessible to Sheraton guests. Atlantis also has 11 exhibit lagoons featuring marine life and fanciful "Atlantean" archeological relics—guided tours are available (fee).

Listed room rates apply to a maximum number of guests for each room category. A charge is levied for each extra guest age 18 and older. There are no extra-guest charges for guests aged 17 and younger.

Menu featuring choices such as rotisserie chicken, veal chop, grilled lobster, steaks, crab cakes, and conch fritters. Dinner only. Dress code: long pants or dress shorts for men.

Julie's Ristorante Italiano - Air-conditioned dining room with vibrantly colored rainforest murals, wood-lattice trim, opera background music, white linens. Menu featuring pasta, eggplant pancakes, rice balls, seafood, osso buco, chicken cacciatore. Dinner only. Dress code: long pants or dress shorts for men.

The Verandah - Air-conditioned dining room with ocean view. Mosaic-tile floor, wood ceilings, Indonesian fiber-paddle ceiling fans, mirror windows. Serving breakfast only, buffet or à la carte. Casual dress.

Sun Deck Bar & Grill - Poolside restaurant serving sandwiches, salads, light meals, and tropical drinks every afternoon until late evening.

Plumes - Lobby bar open for cocktails and pizza from lunchtime until late night. Rattan stools under high carved-plaster ceiling. Cushioned rattan lounge seating. Large flat-screen television, often tuned to sports.

Recreation

A 24-hour, air-conditioned fitness center provides cardio machines, a universal gym, and free weights. The resort also has two lighted, hard-surface tennis courts and a basketball hoop. Several golf courses are within 1 mile, including the championship Ocean Club course—the hotel concierge can arrange tee times. A fleet of bicycles is maintained for guest use.

A limited supply of complimentary snorkeling gear is available. An independent dive shop offers scuba diving lessons in the resort's pool and scuba and snorkeling excursions (fees). Hotel staff can assist with deep-sea fishing and boating arrangements. On the beach, parasailing, windsurfing, and other water sports are available (fee).

A daily fee is assessed for use of in-room safes.
