Radisson Cable Beach Resort
PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE LISTEN TO ME. I just read an excellent review from someone in New York who suggested those of us who did not like it here should check our attitiudes at the door. Also said you get what you give. Well I am a well mannered person who has for 15 years been vacationing at the Jersey shore so my standards are not that of a person staying at a Carlton Ritz. If this New York person had such a great trip good for them. I went with two other families and checked out hours after checking in. The Lobby, hallways and elevators are NOT airconditioned. Everywhere you stand is dirty with ashes, cigarettes, dirty dishes etc and smells of Mildew. Every person we dealt with was RUDE except for the bellmen who were wonderful. That was if they even answered you when you said excuse me after being ignored for at least 20 minutes. Dirty rooms that ARE being renovated somewhere. Noise from renovations everywhere all day and night. How a place with so many renovations going on can have paint peeling EVERYWHERE is beyond me. Since the New York review brought up the fact that the Bahamas is a black colored country and that they should be treated with respect and maybe they would be nice back I will comment on this. ANYONE who was not white and not AMERICAN seemed to be getting treated like Kings and Queens, smiles and friendly service. As a white AMERICAN I ALWAYS SAY PLEASE AND THANK YOU TO ANYONE. I was treated horribly when I was not being ignored and not till I checked out did I have an attitude. This trip was $4,000 for a family of four which I do not consider cheap for 6 nights. We moved to Atlantis and LOVED it would go again in a second. Look on their website for my Excellent review. Please listen, I read some bad reviews before I went and thought the same as New York. If I was nice and polite how could it be so bad. Well it was worse than bad. Spend the extra for the Atlantis. We lost our first day and wouldnt have it we had started at ATLANTIS.
We just got back (8/23) from a five night stay at the Radisson Cable Beach and we had a great time. Pros: quiet and uncrowded. All of the hype about Atlantis on Paradise Island seems to have drawn the crowds away from Cable Beach. We were able to get restaurant reservations, there were plenty of beach chairs, short waits at the bars, etc. In fact, we took a day trip to Paradise Island and were really disappointed. Atlantis is, in the words of my 17 year old son, DisneyWorld in the Bahamas. It is garish, gaudy, and CROWDED. We were happy to get back to the serenity of Cable Beach.Food: Good to Very Good. Hey, this is not a 5 Star resort. But how elegant do you need to make breakfast??? Cook to order eggs, crisp bacon, sausage, croissants, grits.....it was buffet style, but still tasy and satisfying. Lunch.....burgers, fried chicken, and great hot dogs at the Dolphin Grille. We recommend the hot dogs, fried chicken fingers, and the Portabella Mushroom sandwich at the Dolphin Grille. The Bimini Market is open for buffet lunch, but it was not worth coming off the beach or away from the pool. Dinner: Avacados was the best. Excellent service and great food. Forge was great, but the wait staff seemed overwhelmed. Amici's was so-so Italian. We recommend at least one night of room service. It is included in the all-inclusive for just a $3.50 charge. The room service menu is good. Food came hot...it was delivered and set up niclely in the room.....kids loved it. Do not go to the Bimini Market for dinner. Make your reservations the first day for your whole stay and you will have no problems.Service: Housekeeping, bartending, wait staffs.....great. I don't know what all the complaints are being posted for. Treat the staff with respect, spend a few bucks with a few tips, and you will be taken care of. If you are spending $1000 for a vacation, spend another $20 and you will have no problems.Rooms.... standard, aging, but very clean. How much time are you in the room anyway? AC was fine as was water pressure and hot water.Pools: Beautiful, cool, refreshing, uncrowded. My daughter spent the entire stay in the pools. Cons:Recreation: Not much to do. There is a Fun Staff that tries to generate fun with little events everyday, but they are held near the beach bart and most people are enjoying the top shelf drinks. Bring your own snorkel gear....although there was never more than five or six people snorkeling, they were always out of equipment. When it was available, the equipment wasn't too good. Snorkeling was OK near the artificial reef about 50 yards off the beach. It is not Hawaii though. My teenage son was kind of bored with the activities but enjoyed the bike ride (short on scenery, but good exercise).Towels: The towel booth ran out of towels around mid-afternoon.Pools: One pool had no filtration for over a day while a pipe was being fixed. Night life. Not much. Friday night Junkaroo cookout was fun. The casino is good (not many $5 tables, but lots of slots). Piano bar until 9. Overall, the 3.5 star rating is very accurate. Remembe, 3.5 stars is not 4 or five stars. We had a great time, would go again and would recommend the place to families, especially those with younger kids.
I just returned from my third and last trip to the Radisson Cable beach! I was there 5 years ago and it was very nice. Since then it has really been run down. My room had paint peeling. The toilet looked like it hasn't been cleaned in months. It took 12 minutes for the hot water to get there. I timed it! Never could get an answer at the golf shop. The waitresses in the buffet were horrible and lazy. They smirked at you if you asked for something. The toaster didnt work in the breakfast area! The door to go in the east wing didnt have a handle on it so you had to pull on a screw. I tore my hand up on it. I asked them to fix it to no avail! I could list everything that didnt work but it would take too long. It was that bad! The only good service I recieved was from the doorman, the check in girl, and the staff at Avacodos. Travelers beware! Stay away from this place!
My husband and i went to our friends wedding 4 yrs ago...we had a fantastic time, the staff were excellent and accomodating! When we checked out we had 8 hours to kill and they gave us a room to have a shower in and to take a sleep.(our flight wasnt untill 2 am) The food was good as well, i agree you have to book restaurants in advance, but dont you have to do that in any restaurant!! There are plently of activities outside the hotel, lots of islands to visit so you dont have to sit in at look at 4 walls. Your on holiday and as far as i can see, the food was great, the staff, be it slow..(i would call laid back they certainly made me feel relaxed)..It was my birthday whilst i was there and i had the hole restaurant staff banging on equipment from the kitchen singing happy birthday to me!!.they made my day....food good, staff relaxed and welcoming.i cant wait to go back |
