Nassau Beach Hotel

You get what you pay for

I just back from Nassau after spending eight days with my wife on our honeymoon. We stayed the first six nights at Nassau Beach Hotel and the last at Atlantis. First, let me begin with Nassau Beach Hotel. It is a decent hotel, great location with easy access to beautiful waters and plenty of sun. However, the hotel in its self needs upgrading. The lobby is nice but you immediately notice the mold smell. The rooms are average, very boring, not much decorations, the doors needs to be changed, and once again you can smell the mold. Definitely use the facilities next door at Wyndam. Around the hotel, all the restaurants are expensive, I would say to try Cafe Jhonny Canoe's, avoid the Poop Deck. Venture into dowtown taking the #10. You can find a lot of deals at the Straw Market. Atlantis was very impressive but also very expensive. If you stay in Cable Beach, take the #10 to downtown and then take a $3 ferry to Paradise Island and walk around Atlantis. Overall, Nassau is very nice, great beaches, but the restaraunts are very expensive.

Average facilities great location

Hi, We just returned from the Bahamas on July 12th, 2003 .We stayed at the NBH for a total of 8 days. It is an average hotel. The facilities are not that nice, so if you are looking for a really nice hotel, this in is not the place to stay. The NBH property beach is beautiful. They have a great beach line, with fantastic swimming and sunning. It is also very close to town just a short $1 dollar trip on bus #10 into to the center of Nassau. The food in and around the hotels is very expensive. In general the food is expensive in the Bahamas. To save money we usually ate in town. They have a McDonalds as well as some local restaurants and good Chinese restaurants. The straw market in town is cheaper than most of the stores for souvenirs and Bahamian goods, so its worth a trip through. Overall the NBH experience was a good one. As long as you know what to expect. The NBH is an average hotel but was well worth the stay for the location and the beach front.
