What to expect: Bargain-minded families and couples check in here for the relaxed, tranquil ambience. When they desire casino action or a livelier atmosphere, they walk next door to the larger, grander Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino, where they enjoy guest privileges.

Amenity highlights: Running along the resort's 750-foot beachfront furnished with lounge chairs and thatch shelters and dotted with palm trees, Cable Beach supplies light, fine-textured sand as an entrée into the warm, turquoise-and-blue Atlantic Ocean. Water-sports equipment, some complimentary, is available on the beach. Two pools located in large garden courtyards with ocean views offer freshwater swimming. Rocks, palm trees, and flowering bushes border a good-size lagoon-style heated pool next to the Oceanview Grill and Oceanview Bar. An expansive sundeck surrounds a second, larger free-form pool in another courtyard.

Insider tip: In addition to a 35,000-square-foot casino, other facilities available to Nassau Beach Hotel guests at neighboring sister-resort Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino are a saltwater swimming cove, a huge pool with spiral water slide, a health spa, and a children's club with supervised activities (fees charged). Café Johnny Canoe - Casual, colorful streetside place featuring Bahamian foods such as conch chowder, conch fritters, and guava duff, and international favorites such as Caesar salad, steaks, ribs, and crack' (fried) and grilled seafood. Air-conditioned dining room, open-air bar, wood porch under arbor. Bahamian band on weekends. Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

King & Knights Island Revue - Bahamian dinner show featuring fire dance, acrobats, music. Late-night dancing after shows Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The Beef Cellar - Intimate stone-walled basement restaurant with electric grill in center of each tile-top booth-table for guests to grill own steaks or lamb chops. (Kitchen prepares food on request.) Prime rib also available. Dinner only.

Sbarro - Italian cafeteria featuring pizza, pasta, calzones. Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Oceanview Grill - Open-air beachside spot serving burgers, hot dogs, fish sandwiches, conch fritters.

Oceanview Bar - Tropical drinks and beer, including Kalick, a Bahamian favorite.

Le Café - Deli located in retail corridor. Sandwiches, salads, coffee drinks, pastries, desserts, ice cream. Takeout available.

The Living Room - English-club style nightclub with leather barstools, drawing-room couches, fireplace, stained-glass mural. Live dance music Thursdays; DJ music other nights. Minimum age 25. Resortwear dress code.

Out Island Bar - English pub with dark wood paneling located in lobby. Dance floor with recorded music.

Room service is available only for breakfast.

Recreation

The resort provides complimentary use of kayaks, snorkeling gear, and float mats. Elsewhere on the beach, windsurfers, sailboats, and Jet Skis can be rented.
