General information

The resort attracts couples, singles, and small groups of friends seeking an adult-fun and tropical-beach vacation, with guests ranging in age from 20s to 50s. (Guests must be at least 14 years of age.) Activities run day and night and include a 28-foot rock-climbing wall, a skating rink with a plastic surface (complimentary "ice" skates available), and an elaborate circus-trapeze set-up on the beach (complimentary trapeze lessons). After-dark entertainment includes nightly shows, disco dancing until nearly sun-up, and weekly pajama and toga parties.

Amenity highlights: Situated next to a long beach of nearly white sand with thatched shades available for snoozing, the resort's pool complex features a spa for 20 convivial soakers, a shallow "misting" pool containing a fountain and lounge chairs for cool sunbathing, an activity pool, and a main pool with swim-up bar. Complimentary recreation includes waterskiing, scuba-diving lessons in the pool, and use of sailboats, snorkeling gear, kayaks, windsurfers, three lighted tennis courts, and bicycles.

Insider tip: The resort provides complimentary wedding cakes, champagne, flowers, and a non-denominational marriage official for weddings and vow-renewals. Minimum three-night stay is required. (Service fees are charged for license and other paperwork.)

Property amenities

The resort offers nightly entertainment in a lobby lounge. Shows rotate through the week and include cabaret, Bahamian music-and-dance, "funky fashion," and Toga Night. Every Friday night there's a trapeze show on the beach featuring instructors and volunteer guests. Hurricanes Disco provides nightly dancing and features a pajama party on Tuesday nights. Daylight entertainment centers on a beachfront stage and includes hard-body/soft-body and contests, sumo wrestling, fat-glove boxing, dancing, and music.

A fitness center contains cardio and weight machines as well as free weights. An instructor leads aerobics and water-aerobics sessions. For fees, indoor and open-air massage is available. The resort includes a liquor store. (Purchases are not part of the All-Inclusive Plan).

Dining

Garden of Eden - Romantic, white-linen restaurant. Long, narrow, air-conditioned dining room, with two-person loveseats in alcoves facing garden courtyard and separated by latticework. Hanging frosted-glass lights. Also, seating for four in garden gazebos with wood-shingle rooms. French-accented international menu with choices such as escargot, fish, lobster, duck. Dinner only. Reservations required. Dress code: long pants and collared shirts for men.

Pastafari - Intimate, air-conditioned restaurant featuring dark woods, orange, red, yellow accents. Menu of pasta and Italian classics. Dinner only. Reservations required. Dress code: long pants and collared shirts for men.

Main Dining Room - Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and midnight buffets.

Beach Grill - Sandwiches, burgers, salads from late morning to early evening.

Hurricanes Disco - Rock wall, timber pillars, dark ceiling. Dancing and drinks from late night to late morning. Pajama party on Tuesday nights.

An open-air buffet featuring roast pig is offered Wednesday and Friday evenings. Four bars provide tropical drinks, beer, and cocktails, with service available at one or more from late night to late morning. Food service is available 24 hours daily, with snacks served at the front desk from the time the midnight buffet in the Main Dining Room closes until the Main Dining Room's breakfast buffet opens.

Recreation

The resort features a 28-foot rock climbing wall, a skating rink with a plastic surface (complimentary "ice" skates available), and an elaborate circus-trapeze setup on the beach (complimentary trapeze lessons). Use of these facilities is part of the All-Inclusive Plan. Other complimentary recreation includes waterskiing, scuba-diving lessons in the pool, and use of sailboats, snorkeling gear, kayaks, windsurfers, three lighted tennis courts, and bicycles. A game area off the lobby contains pool and Ping-Pong tables and a big-screen television.

For fees, golf is available at the Cable Beach Golf Course across the street. Other recreational activities included on the list below are available near the resort; fees may apply.

Rooms

The resort offers 391 guestrooms in two cream-colored wings, one of four floors and the other of eight floors, with a lobby featuring brightly colored tile mosaics. Cream-colored walls, white ceilings, pale-wood furniture, and floral fabrics create a tropical ambience in rooms. Features include CD player/radio combinations and bowed curtain rods providing an extra 8 inches of elbow room inside tub/shower combinations. Ground-floor rooms have patios from which guests walk directly onto the resort's grounds. Upper-floor rooms include French balconies that consist of sliding-glass doors and wrought-iron railings, but no step-out space. Televisions offer U.S. cable channels.
